I have a real thing for cover versions, something I've inherited from my dad. Occasionally I like to search Spotify for all the versions I can find of a particular song and make a playlist.

Sometimes there are tons to sort through, other times maybe only a handful, and plenty of the covers are either too close to the original or just plain terrible, such as the awful instrumental panpipe versions or endless disco remixes of some songs. But I enjoy the exercise, and sometimes I find some great versions of some of my favourite songs.

It occurred to me a few months ago as I was making one that maybe I could share it with people since I often don't listen back to them after making them. So I decided to edit it down to just the best versions and write up some notes on my process.

I have made the playlists in Spotify because that is the one subscription I have, even if I mostly buy music on Bandcamp these days.
